Following are a set of P2 options you may wish to implement. No option is perfect for everyone, but sometimes options that have worked at one facility can work at yours. They might also serve as inspiration.

Unreviewed Options for Chemical Manufacturing - Plastic Manufacturing

Following are a list of options that have been submitted by users of the pollution prevention planner. They have not been reviewed by pollution prevention specialists.

These options are presented so you can see what people in facilities are considering. As with any option (reviewed or unreviewed) you will have to adapt it to your facility.

 

Catalyst Mud Waste re-use / reclaim

Find a vendor on TCEQ Renewtx.org website and similar avenues to take our waste catalyst mud for reuse or reclamation
 

Miscellaneous Recycling Initiatives

Begin an aluminum can recycling program and a paper/cardboard recycling program. -- Look into recycling Super Sacks, broken wooden pallets and fiber/plastic containers
 

Paint waste re-use / reclamation

Use the TCEQ Renewtx.org website and other similar avenues to find a vendor to reuse or reclaim our paint waste from equipment and pipe painting activities
 

Process offgas recovery

Recover process offgas to an offsite vendor for feedstock use versus venting to flare.
 

Process Mineral Oil Reuse

Evaluate this material for use in a fuels blending program.
 

Minimize Boiler Blowdown

Minimize boiler blowdown to save on treatment chemistry and wastewater generation
 

recycling of HDPE bottles

Purchase baler for recycling of HPDE bottles
Find Options for other processes
