Unreviewed Options for Gel Coating Following are a list of options that have been submitted by users of the pollution prevention planner. They have not been reviewed by pollution prevention specialists. These options are presented so you can see what people in facilities are considering. As with any option (reviewed or unreviewed) you will have to adapt it to your facility.

Advances in technology
Two aspects of gel coating operations can affect the amount of waste reduction: (1) Advances in spray gun technology; and (2) Advances in chemical formulation. Styrene emissions can be reduced approximately 2 tons over 5 years with the use of airless guns. Styrene and methyl methacrylate emissions can be reduced by 2 tons and 5 tons, respectively with a decrease in both contents of 5%. The maximum waste reduction occurs when both technologies are taken advantage of.
