Description:
Oiltanking Texas City conducted an API internal/external inspection of one of its above-ground storage tanks at the terminal, because the tank was being taken out of service for a new customer and new product. The inspection included the external floating roof. At that time, it was decided to install 1.) floating roof support leg socks and 2.) a gauge pole cover. The leg socks are designed to prevent product loss caused by vapors escaping from the floating roof support legs, and the gauge pole cover is designed to inhibit hydrocarbon vapors from escaping from aboveground storage tank slotted gauge pole.
P2 Application:
The leg boots/socks also serve the important function of allowing tanks to meet environmental regulations. The interior and exterior of the leg boot work together to provide resistance against product loss as well as environmental effects from outside the tank. Some of the features include:
* Meet or exceeds environmental regulations;
* Compatible for 100% aromatics MTBE and gasohol;
* Resist U/V, water and ozone effects from outside the tank;
* Can be installed while tank is in service; * Very easy to install and remove;
* Compatible with both U-type and T-bar leg handles;
* Standard sizes, configurations and custom designs are available.

Additional Information :
The gauge pole cover seals in vapors that would otherwise leak from the inside of the tank through the slots on the pole and out into the atmosphere. The gauge pole cover creates a casing around the exterior of the gauge pole that meets environmental regulation requirements for Title V companies.
