Turbomeca USA

Year Submitted: 2011

Process: Lighting Upgrade

Industry: Aircraft Manufacturing

Wastes Reduced: Electricity

Location: Grand Prairie TX

No. of employees: 400

Contact: Terry Hedrick

Description:

This project addressed high energy costs and maximized our efficiency in energy usage. The reductions achieved include: cost reduction, energy use reduction, air pollutant reduction and reduced our carbon footprint at Turbomeca. We achieved reductions of CO2, SO2 and NOx.

Of particular note is NOx as NOx is a prime concern in the DFW Non-Attainment area.

Another added benefit is the improved lighting inside the working area. This improves operating conditions, production and safety

P2 Application:

As a part of our continuing efforts to reduce waste, cost and become more "green", Turbomeca USA underwent lighting overhaul. The work was done by US Energy Management/Pro-Energy Solutions who replaced all of the fixtures with new CFL technologies. Also, the old magnetic ballasts were replaced with electronic ballasts. The old lighting was T-12 magnetic ballasts, HPS lighting and Mercury vapor lighting that created a lot heat.

  • Total Cost Savings: $63,200.00
  • Comments: It is estimated that Turbomeca-USA will save approximately $55,000.00 a year over the course of the next 5 years due to energy use reduction. This was estimated by the vendor who performed the lighting retrofit at the site. We are waiting on more information from the supplier.

Details of Reductions

  • 1,581.0 - ton of   CO2
  • 409.0 - ton of   SO2
  • 681.0 - ton of   NOx

Additional Information :

This was a corporate mandate for all sites to reduce energy consumption.
