Description:

SESA was spending approximately $1000/ yr disposing of product samples through a TSDF as a class 1 waste. The cost of disposal was eliminated by recycling the product back into the manufacturing process.

P2 Application:

Instead of sending product samples off-site for disposal, the samples are recycled to the last step of the manufacturing process, not to raw material feed stock. We determined that this was acceptable because the samples are essentially uncontaminated finished product.

  • Total Cost Savings: $5,000.00
  • Comments: Cost savings due to avoided disposal are $1,000/yr and savings from reduced raw materia are $4,000/yr.

Details of Reductions

  • 830.0 - lbs of   Product Samples

Additional Information :

Cost savings is based on the elimination of disposal cost, and the affect on process yield. By recycling the product the production yield increases, resulting in less raw material waste.
