Description:

Monsanto has instituted a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program to monitor and repair over 15,000 valves and flanges. The acceptable leak rate was reduced from 10,000 ppmv to 500 ppmv.

Environmental Benefits:

The LDAR system has reduced emissions of VOCs by almost 300,000 pounds a year.

Details of Reductions

Additional Information :

The reduced emissions result in reduced losses of products and raw materials. The program itself costs approximately $150,000 a year to implement.
