Description:
Sony generates a large quantity of high purity water by processing city of San Antonio water. Part of this process involves a reverse osmosis system which removes much of the hardness associated with local water. The reject water from the reverse osmosis system that contains concentrated minerals was previously discharged to the sanitary sewer. This water is now used to water the landscape around the facility.
Environmental Benefits:
The project reduces the amount of water that Sony has to buy from the city by over 6,000,000 gallons a year. Additionally, there is less load on the city treatment facility.
Details of Reductions
Additional Information :
The project reduces water demand and city treatment cost by $13,400 a year. This was done with minimal replumbing in sections of the pure water manufacturing operations.
