Description:

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) maintains a fleet of buses, which require filtering of their fuel systems. The fuel systems are connected to a vat, which is responsible for cleansing the vehicle systems with solvent. In the past, this technology alone was not efficient enough.

P2 Application:

The same fuel filters as used on buses were installed on the Safety Kleen solvent vats to filter solvent. The filters are changed weekly so that the life of the solvent is prolonged, thus cleaning numerous systems before disposal.

Environmental Benefits:

This technology is a significant factor in the reduction of the solvent waste stream, a hazardous threat to the water in the environment.

Details of Reductions

Additional Information :

Reduction of solvent purchase and disposal reduces the level of the solvent waste stream by extending the life of the solvent by 20%.
