Description:

Much hazardous waste was created in polyester resin storage tanks due to short shelf life of product. Resin would gel and have to be cleaned out creating much hazardous waste.

P2 Application:

Changed from tankers to barrels.

  • Comments: Cost of sludge to dispose from storage tanks would cost about $6,000. Additional labor to handle drums would cost approximately same amount, however, about 5 tons of hazardous waste was eliminated.

Details of Reductions


  • Comments: No air emissions from vents, etc. Raw materials from barrels are fresh. Only amount required is ordered. Barrels can be returned for re-use or recycled for steel, offsite.
