| Clean Trenches | ||
| Dirt and solids accumulate in the concrete lined trenches in the VCM and EDC process areas and periodically this must be cleaned out and disposed of. This generates a hazardous waste, which must be incinerated and disposed. Also periodic cleaning of the trenches can release contaminants to the air and contribute to personnel exposure. The accumulation of dirt can be reduced or eliminated by installing a trench flush system that reuses cooling tower blowdown water to flush the trenches once per week. This project has been determined to be economically and technically feasible. | ||
